The upper eyelid lift is a very frequently performed procedure that can be carried out with almost no surgical risks, causes only very short downtimes and promises excellent results. On the one hand, an upper eyelid lift can remove age-related excess skin on the edge of the upper eyelid, which immediately makes patients look more alert and fresh. On the other hand, fat deposits in the upper eyelids can also be reduced. The swollen and exhausted impression is thus remedied. In the lower eyelid area, bags under the eyes can also be eliminated. An upper eyelid lift thus helps patients to achieve a more youthful, fresher appearance without looking operated on or artificial.

What happens during an upper eyelid lift?

In a personal consultation in my practice in Cham, we analyze the findings together and clarify what changes are desired. We define the excess skin on the upper and lower eyelids and examine whether there is excess fatty tissue on the eyelids. Before the upper eyelid lift, the excess skin on the eyelids is precisely marked and removed in a short operation under local anesthesia or twilight sleep. Excess fat tissue can also be carefully reduced. After 7 days, the light plaster dressing can be removed directly on the sutures and the skin thread pulled out. Smaller bruises take up to 10 days to heal completely. However, they can be painted over after just one day.

What can I expect after an eyelid lift?

If the head is consistently elevated on the day of the operation and the surgical site is cooled, the pain is almost completely gone after 1-2 days. Mild painkillers can be taken in the first few days. Swelling and bruising can last between 1-2 weeks. Sport should only be resumed once the swelling has completely subsided. A local massage can accelerate the reduction of swelling.
